Alston House is ideally sited as a stopping point for those walking
the Pennine Way or cycling the C2C cycleway, or Pennine Cycleway
North. Both cycleways run past the front door (if you are on the
C2C cycleway follow the alternative route that takes you into Alston
rather than going to Leadgate).
The
Pennine Way, the 270 mile route, which from the South takes in the
Peak District and Yorkshire Dales before reaching Alston Moor, is
just two minutes walk from the door. So stopping over won’t
involve an unwanted detour from your route.
For
those planning a less strenuous visit to the area there are riverside
walks, waterfalls, cycling, horse riding, the highest narrow gauge
railway in England, gift shops, potteries and a gallery. |
